- Describe the setting of the story (plantation, high rise apartment…)
- Describe the characters
- Develop a plot or a theme
- Dates of events and the correct spelling of names and places is important.
- Don’t use formal and nicknames interchangeably (stick with one name)
- Don’t repeat information unnecessarily
- Wordy paragraphs kills the story (revise paragraphs, omit unneccesary words)
- Story should be chronological (discuss events in an orderly time frame)
- Have three or more professionals read, critique, and edit the book draft and or proof
- Accept constuctive criticism from writers and book lovers
- Great story telling takes a lot of effort which includes many revisions
- The authors are often too close to the story to analyze it
